Saving Money and Reducing Risk in your Business...
Project Manager Today, the well known and widely circulated independent business publication has included a Project Plus thought-leadership article in their February issue. The article titled 'Getting Return on Investment from your Project Management Office' is a shortened version of a full paper that has been created to assist organisations gain more from their investment iniatitives by way of better developing their portfolio, programme and project offices. It touches on the strategic aspects of alignment betweeen strategy, operation planning and project execution. The Project Management Institute (PMI®) has designated and awarded Iain Fraser, our Group Managing Director (CEO), with its prestigious PMI Fellow award during the PMI Awards Ceremony at the PMI Global Congress 2009 – Nth America in Florida, USA.
This award is one of only 50 globally and the second only outside of Nth America. The award is given to those that for over 10 years have significantly contributed towards and shaped the global profession of project management and PMI. It is PMI’s highest and most prestigious award that is presented to an individual.
Ministry of Defence Source Global Learning...
Adding to the existing 'Approved Learning Provider' status for the Enhanced Learning Credits Scheme (ELCAS), Project Plus has also now gained 'Approved Supplier' status with the Career Transition Programme (CTP) via the Ministry of Defence. This service is offered through our UK and NZ offices.
Already some defence personnnel have taken advantage of the comprehensive training and certification options that Project Plus offer by completing a programme of learning that provides them with enhanced skills in project management. Most UK defence personnel, irrespective of their geographical location, can take advantage of the enhanced learning that the Project Plus project management training provides and gain internationally recognised accreditations in project management.

This quarter we are introducing some brand new options that have been built based on market analysis and demand. These new offerings are:
1. Practical Stakeholder Management - a pragmatic workshop that offers a rubust and simple to use approach to stakeholder management. 3. Managing Multi Priorities - this workshop is highly focussed of time management and the management of competing priorities. Learn how to work smart, work on the right things for improved effectiveness and do stuff the right way for increased efficiency.

The Project Plus pool of skilled programme and project managers is providing a range of services to clients across the country from Glasgow through Manchester to London. Recent meetings in Aberdeen indicate that soon some of the 'Plussers' (our team name) will soon be actively adding value to some of our oil & gas clients. In the south east we await confirmation on a number of other assignments that will see us provide strategic consulting based on organisational change for better outputs and outcomes from project based work. This will allow our clients to gain clear differentation from their competitors and to effect transformational change.

Iain Fraser, Group Managing Director, continues to be in strong demand as a thought-leader and speaker for key events that relate to the portfolio, programme or project management and business results. Already this year he has delivered thought-provoking perspectives to audiences in Germany, Malaysia, NZ, Singapore, and the UK. In the pipeline are presentations at events in Glasgow, London as again in Malaysia and Singapore later this year.
Iain was an active participant at the recent Economist Forum on Global Talent Management held in London. Many executive leaders from multi-national organisations spoke of the challenges being faced as well as the new paradigms being adopted for the recruiting and retention of key skillsets. Around the world it seems that businesses, governments, NGO’s and others are somewhat confused by the debates around the merits of popular project management approaches. In particular the Project Management Institutes (PMI) ‘Project Management Body of Knowledge’ (PMBOK ®) and Office of Government Commerce (OGC) ‘Projects in Controlled Environments’ (PRINCE2 ®) seem to cause the most debate and therefore giving rise to the most confusion.
